The August Report includes information about meetings with the Inter-Congregational Voice on Climate Change and the Pacific Islands. This is a group of Catholic congregations with historical and ongoing involvement among peoples in Pacific Island nations in the areas of education, health, community development and climate justice. The group participated in the ‘Inquiry into the strategic effectiveness and outcomes of Australia’s aid program in the Indo-Pacific and its role in supporting Australia’s regional interests’ being conducted by Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade. The report also includes a letter from the Australian chapter of the International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines imploring President Rodrigo Duterte to rescind the deportation order for Sr Patricia Fox. The letter was delivered to Philippine Consul-General in Sydney. Read more …
