“The Latest Research in Mimetic Theory”

In lieu of the conference, the Australian Girard Seminar will host a public seminar on 11 October, 3-5pm (AEDT):

“The Latest Research in Mimetic Theory”

Friday, 11 October, 3-5pm (AEDT)

Australian Catholic University (ACU), Melbourne

The seminar will feature the following talks based on recent work in the field of René Girard’s mimetic theory:

Rena Macleod (Australian Catholic University), ‘Girard, Gender and the Hebrew Bible’ (presenting from Brisbane)

Joel Hodge (Australian Catholic University), ‘Violence in the Name of God: The Militant Jihadist Response to Modernity’ (presenting from Melbourne)

Each speaker will present for 20-30 minutes followed by questions and discussion. For those in Melbourne and Brisbane, afternoon tea will be provided. In Melbourne, please feel free to arrive from 2.30pm for the afternoon tea.

The seminar will be hosted via video-conference. The rooms for the seminar are:

Brisbane: ACU Campus (McAuley at Banyo): 212.1.19 (Saint John Paul II Building, level 1)

Melbourne: ACU Campus (St Patrick’s): 460.5.42 (250 Victoria Parade, level 5)

Sydney: ACU Campus (Mount Saint Mary, Strathfield): 600.1.02 (Edmund Rich Building, level 1)

 

Please note that daylight savings will be effect. The seminar will start at 3pm (NSW/VIC/TAS time).
